Knowing what kind of personality type someone is can be a major advantage in building rapport, closing a deal, or networking. The hardest part isn’t learning about how to tell who is what, but rather how to use subconscious versatility at any given time.
What I mean by this is being able to interact with people, instantly figuring out which personality type they are, then automatically adjusting who you are to communicate with them.
Can you imagine how many new powerful connections you can make? The more people who feel comfortable around you, the more chances you have in-exponentially increasing your business.
How Analyticals People Work
People who have the Analytical personality type usually appear to be very intelligent, nerdy, or systematical. I’m not saying that all analytical are smart or technologically advanced, although many of them are, but that most pay close attention to the smallest details.
You’ll also find that many Analyticals wear glasses because their eyes are vigorously reading and analyzing data faster than most resulting in their eyes wearing out quicker.
Analyticals are people who, like Drivers, have little to no emotion, yet unlike Drivers or Expressives, make decisions slowly and with much second thought.
- Sees overt emotion as a weakness and something to distrust.
- Needs facts, numbers, and details. Will seek out more information.
- Usually known for being a perfectionist, hates to make errors. Doesn’t forgive mistakes easily in themselves or others. Seen as intolerant.
- Great problem solving skills. Wants to be admired for their problem solving abilities.
- Likes organization and structure. Will sometimes hold to ‘rules’ even when results suffer.
- Soft voice, reserved. Not directly confrontational. Lets the data speak for itself. Expects others to agree based on facts and logical arguments.
- Gets frustrated when people don’t see ‘the right answer’ as clearly as they do.
- Usually doesn’t get bored – internal life (thinking about ‘stuff’) keeps them occupied when outside stimulus is low.
Analyticals are usually pretty easy to spot because of their neatness, structure, and sensitivity of minute detail. Dealing with an Analytical sounds quite simple, but actually requires you to provide an extensive amount of data, graphs, references, and anything else with numbers, facts, and figures.

Is there a direct relation between the personality types you describe and the Jung – Myers-Briggs typology?
I think I’m an analytical and probably my Jung – Myers-Briggs type (INTJ) confirms that, but in times when I want to make changes in my life I have my Driver’s bursts.
Is it possible for an analytical to be more spontaneous? Or it is just in times of stress?
It is the time of stress. My cousin is quite analytical when it comes down to doing whatever does on a daily basis, but when he goes under pressure or stress, he becomes a full on driver.
You can be a different personality during time of stress, or you can be the same.
Does that make sense?
Have you ever met someone who had deliberately acted like a different personality type and coped with keeping unnoticed his real personality type?
Stress definitely makes sense, but I can think of one more option – having an increased level of awareness (means that you are consciously paying attention to what you do and what is going on around you most of the time – that’s your words) – being aware of your personality type, you might deliberately change your attitudes in oppose to your internal wiring.
Yes this is true, it’s referred to as Versatility. It’s a technique yous use when your looking to build rapport with people that aren’t the same personality type as you are. So you are still the same personality type, it’s just that you temporarily change yourself to accommodate the person in front of you.
“You’ll also find that many Analyticals wear glasses because their eyes are vigorously reading and analyzing data faster than most resulting in their eyes wearing out quicker. ”
Complete BULLSHIT! This is an old wives’ tale; a myth! There is no evidence to support this claim.
I met a dude and I thought we were really a like. He looked up my facebook, myspace, blog, etc. And I feel like he’s been digging into my life. And he’s been like asking questions and just making comments to see how I’ll respond. Like he’s analysing me. Would you say that analytical people are manipulative people. And how should I respond to that cause I’m totally not analytical at all
By that information alone, I would not be able to say what his personality type is. No, analtyicals are not necessarily manipulative type, but what I can say is that based on what you are telling me, he sounds obsessive and stalker-like….lol
“Analyticals are people who, like Drivers, have little to no emotion.”
More accurately, analyticals experience strong emotions like anyone else. Its just that they are more comfortable with thoughts and therefore hesitate to express their emotions and don't know what to do with other peoples emotions. Take it from an analytical. ;).
lol, thanks for clarifying that 🙂
Outstanding post – and good domain by the way!
You made some realistically points there. I did a search on the subject and identified most people will agree with your blog.
It is nice to definitely locate a blog where the blogger is level-headed. Thanks for creating your site.

Thanks for clarifying that, you’re absolutely right.
I am married to a type A personality, it is very hard to talk to him when it comes to feelings. my feelings are consistently being dismissed and he never responds to any of my questions, gets frustrated and walks away from the conversation, how can I get him to talk?
I am an analytical personality type and I’m amazed how this description fits me well.
Except for the rule part.
Most of the time, I prefer seeing how things would go if we don’t follow rules.
What do you mean by “Dealing with an Analytical sounds quite simple, but actually requires you to provide an extensive amount of data, graphs, references, and anything else with numbers, facts, and figures.”?
Or, in what context does this apply?
I believe that I am an analytical person, I am also a man. Here’s how I process my wife’s talks about her feelings.
Structure is important. There must be purpose, direction and resolution.
– Purpose: You two are together to enjoy life more. You enjoy life by more expressing feelings. Therefore, you two are together to express feelings. (A=B, B=C, A=C)
-Direction: Men are fixers not listeners, that’s why chicks have gal pals and why guys have tools. You want your guy to become your gal pal then you have to let him know that listening without offering advice helps you. It may help to talk about your feelings while he fixes something.
-Resolution: If you continually run into the same problem over and over and don’t figure out a solution on how to fix the problem, it may be frustrating. That frustration leads to avoidance. If you tell him a problem and can’t fix it on your own you may want to consider taking his advice if only to make him feel that he has more control over the situation. In the end, it has to be about compromise if you just want to talk and he just wants to fix then at some point after you get done talking you have to let him try to fix it. (As long as the solution isn’t potentially harmful or illegal.) But letting a guy know up front what you need/want and what he can do may eliminate a lot of confusion – at least in my experience.
Leave it to an analytical to clarify a discrepancy.
Everybody has a bit of each personality in them but to varying degrees.
Analytical people tend dissassociate themselves from the situation. That doesn’t mean that they can’t make decisions when pushed or express their feelings or feel empathy. In my opinion it just means that you have a natural tendency to respond a particular way most of the time.
OMG I so agree, dont bring a problem to me if you do not have the facts. It is very annoying, but with age and maturity I have learned to deal with others when it comes to that issue.

See, i think analytically, but im also bipolar. I prone to blind loyalty, impulse and never questioning my beliefs, even though im a dominant type A personality. But after I got used to the idea that I run hotter than normal, I realized to that my mind needs more little breaks than the average, more chemically balanced one, and those arent hard to find in the modern age. Being analytical is a gift and a curse, just like bipolar, so my lifestyle never really changed, i just had to manage my negative thoughts more, for any who liked to know
I have some of these personality traits but not all of them, where does that place me?
My counselor said I was the analytical type, but I also had balance in the other three. Hopefully, over time, all will be even!
My boss of 13 months was surprised when I came to him just recently, stating that I was victimised by my colleagues about 9 months ago.
But that’s how analyticals are! I struggled with the thought of whether or not to inform him this. And HOW I’d do it, once I decide to actually inform him, and why. So him being a different shoot-from-the-hip type of personality, was surprised that I only came to him this “late”.
He wanted to know whether he should act on this information (such as call a meeting, etc.). In response I said the choice was his because I could repeat every sentence, comma and tittle in front of these folks. I also informed him that for me it would be enough if he knew. I had all the evidence and proof in front of me. I’d thought since he doesn’t interact with us regularly, it was important for him just to know.
In short, that’s what some people have termed the analytical person in action!

This is oversimplification, and complete bunk. You cannot fit a person into one of four neat little boxes. This is cracker-jack psychology and should be ignored.
