Work Hard, Don’t Play Hard Just Yet

PlayMost people are weary and unsure of what will happen to our economy. Sometimes the stock markets soar high and other times they plummet low. Everything seems to be boarder line chaotic.  Does America really have it that bad? “…Short answer yes with an if, long answer no with a but…”

I love the cliché line: cream always rises to the top. What does that tell me, well it tells me that if work my @$$ off right now, I’ll be able to get ahead of my competition.  For example, I work very hard to make this blog famous. I recently encountered a few opportunities to do some guest posts for very big time bloggers. That’s an amazing win just 3 weeks after launching persuasive.net.  I say this to you not to gloat, but to say that hard work pays off eventually. I’m certainly not happy with my results, and you shouldn’t be happy with whatever results you have for whatever you’re doing.  Being complacent will hurt you in the long run.

Work harder and smarter

If you work in a field where your pay is determined by the actions you take, you should be spending a minimum of 15 hours each day on work related activities.  This doesn’t necessarily mean being at work, it could mean sharpening your skills, studying your competition, or even studying your own product.

Don’t be:

  1. Complacent
  2. Arrogant
  3. Egotistical
  4. Selfish
  5. Greedy
  6. Desperate

Be:

  1. Grateful
  2. Excited
  3. Enthusiastic
  4. Helpful
  5. Passionate
  6. Interested
  7. Adventurous
  8. Authentic
  9. Ambitious

Changing your perspective can make a great difference at how you communicate to yourself based upon the outside influences you face every day.  If you start acting on the ‘words’ from the ‘be’ column, you’ll be able to attract the right series of events that can take you to the next level.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

If you can work hard for the next few years, eliminate or cutting down on irrelevant social life to be richer than your wildest dreams, would you do so? If your social life is too dear to let go, change it up.  Instead of just hanging out with people, hang out with people you can potentially benefit from.  I don’t mean take advantage of people, look to create mutual business relationships.

This whole post should hopefully get you to understand that you probably aren’t working hard enough.  It is more difficult out there to make a buck, but with hard work and perseverance you’ll be able play harder than ever later.  Hold of on playing right now and let’s get to work.

Good positive post in these times. I was thinking about this. I think I want to aggregate and report all the good and positive news of people who are excelling at this in these times because they are the ones who will win no matter what the economy or the state of the external environment. We are the ones who control our own destiny.

Wow, congrads on the great success you are having with your blog.

This post got me thinking because I am wondering if it makes sense or not to become almost like a bum and spend as much as I can building my blog/business.

It is starting to make sense that I should spend as much time on it, and work on constantly to make it better and bigger.

    Thanks for the post

Although, I agree that you need to work hard to build your blog. I am sure you are aware that usually blogs do not make money in the first year. I also suggest you look for other avenues of making money, maybe a second job or work on other projects …..

I think that’s a great idea. However, if your using your blog to launch this new venture, make sure you have a strong following. Keep writing powerful content for several months and gain an audience who likes your style. Make sense?

Thanks, :). This really goes to prove that there should always be balance between work and play. I tend to confuse them sometimes, because I started being an independent entrepreneur at a young age. especially now with many young entrepreneurs coming out, everyone should be wary of how they act not cuz youre making a lot of money already doesn’t mean that it will go on like that forever.

BOTTOM LINE: Work harder, and work smartly.

I agree with you, AJ Kumar, hard work really pays. I remember a statement in the classic book – Richest Man In Babylon by George Clason about hard work. Megiddo is one of the characters and he was trying to convince the others about the value of liking work. They were about to be sold as slaves and he was trying to convince them that if they worked hard, they would get good masters to work for and soon regain their freedom.

    Hear him:

“Thou can’t get ahead by shirking… If thou plow a hectare that’s a good day’s work and any master knows it. But when thou plow only a half, that’s shirking. I don’t shirk. I like to work and I like to do good work, for work is the best friend I’ve ever known. It has brought me all the good things I’ve had – my farm and cows and crops, everything”.

Going further, the same Megiddo said “Work is very valuable. Some men hate it. They make it their enemy. Better to treat it like a friend, make thyself like it. Don’t mind because it is hard… Remember, work, well done, does good to the man who does it. It makes him a better man.

So, AJ Kumar, you, like Megiddo in the classic “Richest Man In Babylon” are right about the value of working hard and smart. Thanks for sharing.

If you haven’t read that book, AJ, please get it NOW. It’s one of the most important basic books for anyone that’s serious about success. All the big names in the success industry know about and recommend it. One of the oldest first books on the subject of success, it has sold millions of copy and is really awesome. BTW, if you are thinking it’s a huge book, it’s not – it is tiny and can be read in few hours, but referred to for many years afterwards. Read it and you will be glad you did.

When I was in 4th grade we were assigned to come up with an original life motto. The one I came up with was “Work hard now, Work little later”. The class didn’t regard it too highly due its lack of rhymes, but the teacher loved it.

that is a great motto to go by.

See another example of how the students in your class were clueless and lacking logical reasoning.

I love this blog, I was actually looking, for another site.
This Site, certainly have caught my attention.

I will enjoy checking in daily, It was very hard for me to find sites that really catch my interest. Recently, I started having a huge interest about life, my thoughts, How I think different from people I associate with. Almost as if there wasn’t an understanding to how I feel about life, success, learning about different stages of thinking. I wouldn’t be able to go in depth about it.

    I’m in my 20’s as well, (23)
Just slowy learning about life and being aware of my development.
I just wanted to share my thoughts. (smiles)

It makes all the difference Latasha when you start thinking for yourself and paving your own path.

Also, surrounding yourself with like minded individuals works.

One thing I could recommend is, hear what everyone has to say, it may not be all true but there is something you will get out of it. Go around and gather lots of this information and then make your own conclusions.

The worst you can do is follow someone and believe their reality (illusion).
